Even to this day I still keep a subscription with my local newspaper.
It’s actually less money these days to get physical newspapers every morning than it was 10 years ago. I think the news company is just desperate to keep whatever daily readers that they have left. And there are always articles inside the paper that don’t make it on the website, unless of course you log-in with your subscription information. Reading the newspaper is a part of my morning routine that I don’t want to give up. Until I see the announcement that the newspaper is being shut down, I will be a loyal subscriber. On the other hand, I hate the rampant increase in advertising. There’s a removable banner sleeve that wraps the newspaper together like a belt. It contains the paper’s most exclusive and pricey advertisement space. Usually it contains a banner ad for a local business, but not always. I also see huge chain businesses use that particular advertising space, especially if a grocery store is opening a new location within the districts receiving that newspaper. Last week it contained a promo for a new industrial and commercial equipment rental business. The ad says they offer on-site rental equipment deliveries for companies in vastly different industries. For instance, they offer rental boilers and chillers, which are used by businesses of all kinds. Some factories use chillers to cool their hot equipment so nothing overheats during production hours. Boilers on the other hand are used by virtually every industry, even in small businesses where heating loads are a fraction of a commercial business.
